Welcome to Stonehill Estates Kennel...
We would like to introduce ourselves and give you some general information about the kennel and the care your "fur kid" will be receiving.
This facility has been a boarding kennel for approximately 30 years. I became aquainted with "Stonehill Kennel" around 1990. My first golden retriever "Holiday" came from "Stonehill" and I've been hooked on them ever since. I presently have 6 golden retrievers ranging in age from 12 years to 4 months. They rotate sleeping on the couch, sometimes there is even room for me.
In the mid 80's, I worked at and eventually became the manager of a pet store befor Michael and I had opened his swimming pool store in 1986. I have always had numerous pets, from exotic birds, fish tanks to bunnies and always dogs.
My love of animals had drawn me into the kennel life which has put a twinkle in my eye and a smile on my face. In August of 2003, we purchased the kennel formally known as Stonehill Farm Kennel. The kennel has been very fulfilling. I enjoy my duties here. I can not call it work because work is never this enjoyable. Being in my mid 50's, I have made the choice to completely fade out of the family owned business that we have had for the past 20 plus years to devote more of myself to the kennel. The one thing I will miss most from the pool store are the wonderful people I have grown to know.
Since I have owned the kennel, I have learned a great deal thru various training courses on animal first aid and multiple club meetings with various guest speakers. I am Animal CPR certified. The petstore background gave me a good solid basis to begin with.
The kennel has 41 separate dog runs. The average size is 4'x6' with a pully type door going to a 4'x15' outside area for yourdog. There are larger runs for 2 dogs from the same household staying together. Each run is separate from the other runs. Your dog will only have "dog to dog" contact if they live together for the safety of all guests. Lite FM is kept on 24 hours per day to make it feel like home. We are well supplied in area rugs to keep them comfortable. The building is heated in the Winter and air conditioned in the Summer.
My home is onsite, so I can easily keep an eye on the borders. I usually come down between 9:00-10:00 for last outs and night time biscuits. I've been down in the wee hours of the morning, if I've heard a little noise, to check on them.
The feeding schedule is followed as directed by you and the parent. We do serve regular food, for no additional charge. You are welcome, if you prefer, to bring your own from home. All vitamins and medications will be dispensed as you have directed. Each dog must have an updated shots record for Bordatella, DPHL and Rabies before booking for your pet's safety as well as the other borders. We recommend having the shots 2 weeks before boarding.
The cat room is separate from the dog area. Again each cat is housed separately. "Ruby" the kennel cat is on hand to keep an eye out on everyone. The shot record must be up to date to board. We always have plenty of food on hand. Again, you are welcome to bring yours if you choose.
Please inform us of any food allergies at the time of boarding. Please bring to our attention anything we should be advised of concerning your pet.
My goal is to continously improve the kennel. I am proud to say we receive numerous referrals from various Veterinarians, animal shelters and clients.
We presently do light bathing which we are planning to expand in 2007 to included grooming.
Presently our hours are: Monday thru Friday 8:00-1:00 reopening 4:00-7:00 Saturday 9:00-3:00 We are closed Sunday and Major Holidays. Please call 973-697-8480 if you have any questions. You are welcome to stop by during working hours for a quick walkthru.
Thank you, Judy |
